That was special

Had a lovely sushi dinner at Mijori in Oakland with [livejournal.com profile] baronalejandro  (who is in town on business) and [livejournal.com profile] illadore .  Much fun was had, many rolls were consumed. We did dessert at Fenton's Creamery.

What I could have done without were the anxiety dreams about teaching taiko at A&S in which I got more people than I had drums for because they were too stupid to sign up and I ended up running around looking for fallen tree branches to use to drum on camp stools. And of course sticks kept breaking and the 50 bellydancing tourists who came through to interrupt and the loose horse that ran through camp didn't help.

A&S thoughts

Tentative menu for the Japanese picnic. Lord only knows how many people will even want to eat it so I have no idea how much to make.

Edamame (boiled and salted soybeans in the pod)
Onigiri (rice balls) with chicken teryaki. Maybe also with umeboshi (pickled plum).
Pickles - variety to be determined based on what looks good at the market.
Wakame (seaweed salad)?
Fresh melon.
Mochi (rice cakes).
Tea
Sake.
(Note to self, pick up a package of disposable chopsticks!)
