I suppose this is where I'm supposed to write something profound

You know, about the earthquake/tsunami/exploding nuke plant in Japan.  Where I'm supposed to join the horde of Internet Doom Crows and the inane news anchors and the OMG we have a tsunami warning Right Here In The Bay AREA!!!!! (And the friends and family who cannot look at a freakin' map and figure out that I'm not in harm's way.  Santa Cruz is thataway and Crescent City is Waythefuck up THERE, thank you, and I'm not the sort of idiot who's likely to go down to the beach to take pictures and get washed out to sea, okay?)

There are no words - and there are too many.

So I'm just going to post this: http://newsfeed.time.com/2011/03/11/five-ways-you-can-help-earthquake-and-tsunami-victims-in-japan/ and thank [livejournal.com profile] crimsongriffin  and the other Far Westerners who have checked in to let us know they're all right.

Living on borrowed time.

Earlier today a friend posted to his FB that the situation in Japan had him wondering about how much he was living on borrowed time. I answered that all time is borrowed and what one does with it is what counts.

Certainly the last couple days have been the case with me. ExpandCut for length, photos )
