Sewing and stuff

I know it was whole when I pulled it out of the laundry and folded it Sunday morning. I know it was whole when I put it on this morning. However, at some point between then and 9 AM this morning I went through the elbow of my cotton sweater. It's a funky open weave knit and I don't think it's worth my trying to fix. Pooh.

The blue batik hakama got finished yesterday. They'll pair very nicely with either the cream striped kosode or the rust and navy striped kosode - even if I end up looking like a runaway kyogen character.

The Dobuku of Modness is well under way despite the fact that it involves hand-sewing heavy upholstery jacquard. The outer shell is assembled, sleeves and all. The lining needs to be mated to it, a collar needs to go on, hem and it's done.

That dobuku, now. The jacquard pattern is very Japanese, but also kinda modern looking - and that's offending my authentic sensibilities. It looks like Felicity Shagwell's slipcovers.
I'll take it to Estrella in case I need to layer it over other kosode at night,  but I think it's going to end up doing more duty as a modern jacket than SCA garb.  (At least it's not as bad as Otagiri-dono's Komodo Kimono.)

That said, I've been thinking evil thoughts having to do with the white silk broadcloth I picked up awhile back and the shibori test I did in September.  I've still got two whole weekends before Estrella.

There are no photos, thank Heaven and all the Saints! I was trying to link to a previous journal entry mentioning it. Otagiri-dono put it on me after I got caught in the rain at Pennsic.
