March of the Weather Wussies

OK, yes, Northern California is getting a hardcore storm. Yes, one has to actually walk about 25 unsheltered yards from the shop to the main building, but GEEZ, people, you're in the construction business! Dress for the conditions and quit acting like you're going to melt. Stop milling around inside the front door acting like you've never seen water fall from the sky before. If you must mill around inside the door waiting for a lull, fine, just do it quietly. You're standing in an echo chamber less than ten feet from my desk. Oh, and SHUT the bloody door behind you instead of leaving it to swing in the gale.

It's a good thing I knew you'd all do this - I'm in a big woolly sweater, jeans, four wheel drive for feet (rubber soled clogs) and wool socks.

Why are people acting surprised that bridges are being closed due to high winds? Why are they shocked that semis are jack-knifing all over creation? Why are they trying to drive like the roads are dry and visibility is normal?

These people would die in the Midwest or the Northeast, where frozen water falls from the sky.

Take care, you guys. It seems to have settled down a bit up here (San Leandro) for the moment, so hopefully your drains will have a chance to catch up with the flow soon.

That said, I am parking on the corner by the side of the house and getting as wet as needs be when I get home. The maple tree in front of the house has already dropped a branch on my truck once.
