Helpin' LJ pay the electric bill

I totally understand what it's like to have to say, "Sorry, I can't afford free handouts for this class as my gift to the Society this month." Or "Sorry, the highway ate my tire so I'm putting out a bowl while I busk at this event." It goes against the grain more than I can say, but I have to eat and buy gas and pay the rent just like everyone else.

So no, I'm not boycotting LJ for having to think like a business.

There is a basic issue: SUP didn't communicate this change outside of the Russian-speaking news community until after it happened. Major communications problem. LJ also botched an interest-filtering patch at the same time.

That said, yeah, the folks who complain that new accounts will have to watch ads or pony up about 8 lattes to get rid of them? Don't care so much.

If you worked where I worked, SUP's comm fu wouldn't make you turn a hair. (The rules change seemingly arbitrarily and nobody ever tells anyone anything.)

Yeah, they should've communicated this better, but in the grander scheme of things, this is a hiccup.

Whilst that sucks in a workplace, have you played the card game Fluxx?

Somehow sudden rule changes are much more amusing in a card game.

This latest LJ kerfluffle is just a blip, and this too shall pass.
