The price of a bowl of rice redux

Some of you may recall my small efforts to raise rice money for the local food banks last fall, and again this spring.

Now, you all know I don't spam you with those "Vote for me so I can win a free iCrap" things. However, I discovered that Bayareahunger.org is one of four charities that is in contention for a $100,000 grant from Pepsico. In recent weeks they have been lending their aid to the hungry in the Gulf Coast states. Please consider giving them a vote.

A ragtime start to the weekend.

My grandpa turned me onto ragtime. He had a recording of someone - possibly Eubie Blake - playing "The Star Spangled Banner" in a ragtime arrangement that I always liked. This may not be it, being a piano roll, but it reminds me of what I remember.
