This just in from the Princess of Cynagua (who sat on this announcement for a week, I must add!!!), confirming my suspicion that the idea came up at M/C War: 
"I write to you our populace with a most troubling problem. This past weekend at the War, His Highness Marc boasted of the Swan's ability to rally for Their Majesty's A & S competition. He promised to bring forth 21 entries for the competition, while the Mist's Prince Sigifrith promised a paltry 20. ;)

I call forth to Cynagua to support Their Prince's request. Please, support your Principality, and let us shock and amaze all as we do so often. I request a running tally so that we may know how many we have. If you are entering a competition (or two!) please let me know, that we may know what we are bringing to the table. I have copied the initial post below for information. I will update the list periodically as to numbers."

Then mamapduck  wades in and writes: 

"And just to avoid anyone feeling unloved or neglected I shall be entering at least one competition in honor of Oertha. (Someone who lives there or has at least visited could do so too, then we'd be a faction.)"

There is no one to represent the Barony of the Far West.  I owe the Baroness much giri after last Pennsic. And I'm already working on the shibori sampler (textiles).....

Maybe someone should ask the royalty who's gonna judge nine hundred A&S entries in the middle of a crown tournament?

The fighters, obviously--before every round each of the pairs of combatants judges one A&S entry, and then does their fight. If the Crown Tourney itself isn't enough to judge them all, the rose tourney fighters can keep judging before their fights till they are all done. ;-)

Really, my smatassery stems from the fact that I will be living in Cynagua again by Crown but the item I'm entering was created while I lived in the Mists and I'm not inspired to choose sides. I'm entering this for my Queen, not either principality in question, so I might as well throw a little love Oertha's way.
