Bad re-enactor, no bannocks!

What's wrong with this picture and why am I mortified?

I was just FINE before I rolled my dang sleeves up. ;-( Aside from serious hurdy gurdy envy, of course. Dale's is a beaut!

Next time wear it on your ankle. No one will ever notice.

Hah. RenFaire/SCA guys are so used to bosoms, a delicate ankle like gurdymonkey's would not fail to be noticed. A shiny watch on her leg would probabaly case an accident.

You haven't looked at my tree trunks lately, HAVE you?

The shadow is too overwhelming and the lack of focus is distracting?

...It's called Creative ANACHRONISM, remember? :p

Nitpick

...It's called Creative ANACHRONISM...

Actually, no, it isn't--it's a re-enactor show :-)

Yes, but will you ever even speak to me again for being such a loser?

Weget so used to wearing watches, that it is very easy to forget them.

Modern wristwatches are the reason that every shoddy movie Roman wears the craptastiscal bracer in every Swordz N' Sandalz flick (and why clueless reenactors who don't do research wear them as well).

In the heyday of Cheeztastic S N' S epics, it was cheaper to make bracers for all the mob, rather than spackle Ben Nye all over the wristwatch 'shadows' - since you don't want to reshoot a big scene over being able to see someone's Timex shadow.

When the Free Artillerie Companie does its thing at Celtic fairs and Highland games, we are often on a schedule for parades, firing demos and so forth. If I'm busking solo in the merchant area, I need to do time checks to make sure I get back with the unit when I need to be.

(Note to self, be on the lookout for a pendant watch....)

Well, apart from the watch, there is the background of t-shirts, and what not.

I take an old watch and sew it to the inside of my hat (I wear a coif as well), and when asked the time I lift my hat to shade my eyes whilst judging the height of the sun, and sneakily read my watch.
