That Second Chance Thing.

Titling one's post "Yet another abject apology" would be considerably more believable if said poster had ever actually made any previous public apologies for chronic rudeness on said forum.

Granted, the admission, "I am very inept socially," was a nice start. However, begging for forgiveness for such social ineptitude doesn't work if one then continues the inept social behavior as if nothing has ever happened. A scant 24 hours after the obligatory grovel, slapping someone down with a hoity toity "You're wrong," without giving a clue as to what might BE wrong to the post one disagrees with is Not Cool.

Yeah, I kinda shook my head when I saw that one, too.

There are other forums that I have been on (fandom related, not SCA) that would have banned her long ago for the kinds of antics that she pulls on a regular basis.

Oh dear. I'd read the grovel and thought that it might be a sign that she was getting it, in her own way.
Foolish optimism.

Don't *ever* think that. It's been an excuse used on ACP's behalf for DECADES and I for one am heartily weary of it.

Yeah, well, we should talk about this privately sometime. After knowing this lady casually for a while and recently spending some one-on-one time with her, my opinion is that she is quite a sad case and most likely is unable to change. For real.

I completely understand your reactions, they're absolutely justified. But my advice would be to try to set those emotions aside and do whatever damage control can be done in the community separately. Debating in a polite and logical fashion will show the community who is a reasonable resource and who is not.

That only works when she doesn't drive people away, which she has, repeatedly.

You can let the puppy keep peeing on the carpet, you can say, "Oh, poor puppy can't help it" and let it slide, or you can keep trying to house-train the puppy.

I'm tired of wading through pee puddles, quite frankly.
