Today's weather has Multiple Personality Disorder

For those in other parts of the country, California is experiencing a wave of storms blowing in off the Pacific that's supposed to last all week. Today from my desk near the front door, I have observed rain, heavy rain, light rain, blustery winds, hail and bright sunshine, sometimes all at the same time! I have been able to observe rather a lot today because while office staff is in, most of the Bay Area unions have off for Martin Luther King Day and it's been pretty slow here.

Didn't sleep well last night and don't expect to sleep well tonight either. I am truly dreading tomorrow's wisdom tooth extraction. Honestly, I don't want a milkshake for dinner that badly.

The sun is shining through a downpour again.

I had my wisdom teeth out a while back and it wasn't too horrible. I've had worse root canals. Still, if your dentist offers you extra painkillers or nitrous oxide, just say yes.

French toast. Why didn't I think of that?

Don't sweat the wisdom tooth thing. I avoided Japanese dentists for years because they have ghastly, Sweeney Todd reputations compared to the ease and modernity of their Western counterparts.

Then finally, the one wisdom tooth got trouble despite it having been drilled and filled in Canada. No choice! Found a friendly doc in my town, with a staff member with great English. They offered to fix it, I manned up and said, "No, the darn thing is angled too much to ever be of use - let's have it out!" Relatively easy, sore mouth for two or three days. Had no idea wisdom teeth were so big. Looked like a Mastodon tooth.

They offered to let me have it. Maybe for that Japanese custom of burying teeth (if from the upper jaw) or throwing them on the roof of the house (If from the lower jaw.) I declined politely. But I don't really go for tooth folklore anymore...except cloves.
