Jeez, is this retroactive jetlag....

....or is my brain turning to mush because  of some guy?

I forgot to bring in my class notes to copy for tomorrow. I think I have leftovers from A&S last year, but even if I don't I can wing it. In the meantime, I printed out the Five Hundred Essential Japanese Season Words, made a bunch of poetry "work sheets" and will pick up a package of cheap pens because it has been my experience that fifty percent or more of the people who show up for a poetry class will do so without writing materials. (EDIT - found leftover handouts. It pays to packrat such things.)

Must dig out the Tanabata poems from Sacred Rites In Moonlight, which I discovered as I read it on the flight to Pennsic because I told Yukiko-hime about 'em.

Must compose a poem on the theme of Tanabata of my own. (Must give some thought to seeing what Some Guy is truly made of by composing a poem for him and finding a willing shill to deliver it to him when he is not expecting it tomorrow.)

Must press what I'm wearing and whatever I take for loaner purposes so they don't look like complete rags.(EDIT - I have four kosode WITH obi to lend ready to go. That's going to have to be enough.)

(Must finish dressing poor, neglected Hikaru! He is such a handsome monkey, he should come to the feast.)

Must pack sake cups since Emma says she picked up a bottle of Momokawa Diamond for the feast. (Must warn Emma that the alcohol content of sake is around 15%.)

If you have to drive The Littlest Duchess home because she's Sake Bombed I am going to tease her mercilessly.

Can you check your closet and confirm whether you have something that will fit me for our upcoming party at coronet?

Five Hundred Essential Japanese Season Words? *perks up*

Would love to take the class, but California is a bit, er, far away. Good luck and have fun!

Grrrr.... do me a favor and do NOT tell me how the Momokawa Diamond was, m'kay? It'll rip out my heart to know that I had to dump something that was otherwise spectacular....

Nasty. Icky. Tastes like battery acid, 'kay?

"Nasty. Icky. Tastes like battery acid, 'kay?"

Oh, dear, did it really taste that bad? I know it wasn't MY thing, but that's because it didn't taste like fermented Kool-Aid (I like my drinks very sweet - Asti Spumonte almost makes it)

And since I was driving, Duchess Leadfoot could have as much as she wanted of the sake - which wasn't very much. We shared with friends. Then made MORE friends to share with. I still ended up with half a bottle. Maybe my husband will drink it. Otherwise, it's going into shrimp marinated with ginger, soy and sake. At least THAT I know tastes good.

Doh! Na'arah! I was trying to make Danabren not feel bad about not being able to have some!

I will have to find some of the Asian Pear for you to try. I think you might like it better.

Careful with this. My 9th Grade students are always blaming things on Some Guy.

Some Guy took their textbook. Some Guy got in a fight in the parking lot. Occasionally it's his cousin, Some Dude.

Yes, Mr. Benton. Geez, maybe I SHOULD run up, sock him in the shoulder and run away....
