Same question, different day

Again. And again. And again.

I keep answering again and again and again.

It's not because I'm some paragon of patience as I sit at my monitor and think, "Oh sweet Jizo, another one." It's because I know what it's like to try to research a thing and not know what it is called in a language that goes into the most persnickity specificity of vocabulary at the same time that it is riddled with homophonic land mines*. It's because I know what it's like to try to research a thing from a culture that doesn't use a writing system I can even read. If it weren't for romaji and good old Google Translate (because Babelfish goes notoriously 404 on my ass whenever I've tried to feed it Japanese), I'd be seriously screwed.

So once again, I say, "It's called this. You can find more information about it here. And be sure to check out the Links and Files section while you're at it."

Breakfast. I need some breakfast.....

For this kind of patience you deserve almond croissants and very good coffee!

I have to admit, I almost used http://lmgtfy.com/ (http://lmgtfy.com/) on them, but I'm going to give them one more chance.

The truly burning question

Is there anything we could put in A Certain Person's tea to prevent her from posting answers to CLOTHING questions?

The thing that bothers me most about A Certain Person is that even in their area of expertise, they can be very unhelpful. I often believe that A Certain Person likes to say "because I'm an expert, that's why" instead of giving people the tools or advice that would let them draw their own conclusions.... It is rather sad. Scolarship is supposed to be about discussion, evaluation, and debate over new ways of looking at data, not simply parroting what the current "authority" declares true. Reminds me of a time when I took a college course where the professor wrote the text; talk about not being able to disagree.

What I got: green tea and Quaker Raisin, Date, and Almond Oatmeal.

Didn't you spend a lot of time putting together a faq and a list of links for sca_jml recently (like last year or something)?

I realize it's a pain to dig through the old posts, but the links area is easy to navigate and there's certainly enough there for someone to get started with.

Wow - I admire your patience! I really do!

I noticed some of that on the list today (I get digest, so I'm sometimes behind).

The first thing I thought was "gee... don't people know how to search the archives?" and then I saw your comments. Personally, I think you are very nice for helping people the way you do.
