my moms went through all her fabric last year, and ended up with a couple of garbage bags of random scraps. she called me, and my inner packrat wanted to scream "send them to me! i'll pay shipping! you could have gems and you don't even know it!" instead I gave her a suggestion that she did and turned out well.
she posted on craigslist (the free section) that she had these bags of scraps, and by the end of the afternoon another lovely woman showed up at her door to take them away to feed her own obsession.
