Just Shannon-sensei tonight. Drills are pretty solid. "Matsuri Daiko" is gelling reasonably well, and we did more work with "Jishin."
I feel like I'm finally starting to absorb new phrases a bit faster because I don't have to think quite so much about my hands unless it's a really complicated bit. So I asked Sensei whether I should sign up for the intermediate session or repeat beginner. Now, I meant just myself, but he told the entire class he'd prefer we repeat.
Not only is this not a slap in the face, it makes sense. Kaji Yama already has a bunch of intermediate/advanced people in the 6:30 slot that need to be able to move on from Point C to Point D, even as we're homing in on Point B behind them. If he's got us repeating, we can move on from where we are. If we do pick up some brand new people, they'll be brought up to speed.
And there is absolutely no reason we can't show up early and watch the preceding class.
