I figured they probably were able to plug the number in some place and come up with a value, particularly with so many used book sales being filtered through bigger companies like Amazon and Alibris. Even foreign publications aren't so hard to track any more with the ISBN system.
Should I bring this to breakfast tomorrow or are you gonna get maple syrup on it? It's quite lovely if you like Yamato-e painting and there are details that one just doesn't see in the pictures that are circulating on the web. Some of the paintings clearly were not finished.
