anyone who has managed not to walk out on "The Last Samurai
Didn't see it in a theater, resisted seeing it for years because I figured it was "just another exalted white dude Marty-Stu proving he's the most bad-ass dude in the Asian world" movie.
We eventually rented it / gave it the benefit of the doubt based on hearing more about it, and were fairly pleased to find it not quite the disrespectful culture-co-oting film we'd feared. The title seemed to refer to Ken Watanabe's character Katsumoto, not Tom Cruise, and the obligatory movie "potential love interest" refreshingly didn't knee-jerkedly end up in a full-blown hot 'n heavy love affair.
