There are things about TLS that make me want to throw things. Overly ponderous dialogue. Tom Cruise.
There are things about TLS that actually succeed. Someone actually bothered to look at photos from Meiji-period Japan because the costume design and art direction are very good. The Japanese cast out-acts Cruise off the screen again and again and again. That includes the children.
