So, a thought
Mar. 12th, 2007 03:35 pmRandom low flying nonsequitur: Peter O'Toole declaiming in tones dripping equally with disgust and sorrow, "....a little people, a silly people, greedy, barbarous and cruel." Well, maybe not so random as all that.
Anyway, one of the OTHER things that popped into my head earlier today has evidently been marinating in there for a couple of days thanks to a comment by
callistotoni. KDFC has a daily feature called "Islands of Sanity," in which they play something light and calming and beautiful to soothe the frazzled workaday listener.
A certain mailing list might benefit from a similar concept. Well, maybe not, but it can't be any worse than anything else that gets posted there. So, I'm thinking I post a link, every few days or every day if I am sufficiently inspired, motivated or find appropriate content. The link takes the reader to something beautiful: a photograph, a poem, a quotation, a video, whatever. Could be SCA related or not, depends on what I find in my travels that I feel is worth sharing.
There is only one rule. (I have no way of enforcing this, but I can dream, can't I?) The reader MAY NOT comment back to the e-list upon the contents of the link, just as you're not supposed to have your cell phone bleating at a museum or be conducting a conversation in a movie theater. Or think of it as not spoiling the ending to a movie with a really cool plot twist. Open the link, respond to the contents in your own subjective way - and that can include, "What WAS she thinking? I don't like this at all." Then go on with your day without spoiling it for the next person.
