More than a few good men
Mar. 28th, 2007 11:43 amThis is an adjunct to yesterday's post. Some guys are guys. Some guys are good guys.
In no particular order, gentlemen who really DO walk the walk - or at least act like they're happy to see me:
Fujimaki Tosaburou Hidetora (East), my rock, my yojimbo, my bullshit-free zone. Seeing me patting down pockets in a vain search for a tissue, he wordlessly offered his own sleeve.
Hrothgeirr "Do you need some help, Jehanne? Are you SURE?" Hroaldsson, every single time.
Alvar Pacheco de Cadiz, for wrestling a pig that I would not. Sancte Beavis, ora pro nobis.
Leohtulf of the Silver Hills for offering help when nobody else noticed.
Otagiri Tatsuzou (Outlands), who will not let a woman walk unescorted back to her own camp - in broad daylight.
Kaga no Ryokai (Outlands). I didn't know I was going to rate a self-appointed samurai bodyguard when I went to Outlands' Twelfth Night.
Frederick of Holland, my go-to-guy when I need advice on things like spitting into the wind and the art of diplomatic shin-kicking.
Achilles von Fulda (East) for encouragement of a struggling performer with paralyzing stage fright. (I miss playing with The Usual Suspects.)
Gaius Auklandus for a lot of things.
Artos Quintus, who actually offers to carry stuff when he sees me juggling instrument cases and baskets.
Honda Saburou Tademitsu (East) for hitching a ride from Massachussetts to Maryland especially to meet me - smacking Atlantians with rattan appears to have been a bonus.
Andreas Eisfalke (East), the king who gave me my Troubadour, insists I play for him whenever I see him at Estrella, and always says, "If there's anything I can do for you....."
Tanaka Raiko (East), for getting me into the SCA and for being the most brutally honest person I know.
Ii Saburou Katsumori and Takeda Sanjuichiro Akimasa (Atlantia) for gracious hospitality.
Yagyu Tametomo and Li Hsiao Lung (Atenveldt) for gracious hospitality, confetti and sake.
Gilbert de Longspee, Abu of Darkclaw (used to be Rodelli, I think?) and Ivan Ivanovitch Serebrenikov for all their help when I had car trouble in the wilds of Oroville.
Conner McAuliffe FitzJames because he's so freakin' cool.
Date Saburou Yukiie (Aethelmearc), my muse, my inspiration, my competition.
Thorson "You're not smiling!" Halvorssen (East) who was determined that I would have a good time.
Duncan Vitrarius. He knows why.
Aelf of King's Crossing for knowing that Real Life Comes First.
Antonio Giordano da Sicilia
Christophe D'Avignon
Otto Mueller (East)
Connaugh of Rusted Woodlands (East)
Gemini de Grendel
Uther Schiemann der Hunt
Moshe Avenicmel
CaoimhĂn o Fiodhabrha
Robert Skalligrimmson
Alail Horsefriend
Crimthann Mac Giolla Phadraig despite attempts to make off with 4 dozen cookies.
Macsen Felinfoel (East)
Geoffrei St. Albans (East)
Dmitry Shelomin
Vyncent Atte Wodegate
Edward le Kervere
Johann von Drachenfels
Geoffrey Matthias
And I'm sure I'm not even finished yet.
