I think our entire Construction Division should submit to mandatory drug testing. Today's payroll processing was fraught with more frantic foreman calls to change job codes, add hours, delete hours. I was slammed with several incomplete new-hiring documents, we were getting blank faxes which indicate the sender put them in the machine upside down, and a foreman who has been there longer than I have suddenly doesn't seem to know it's his job to get the dispatch from the union hall and sign off on the I-9 when he hires somebody. No, I CAN'T sign it for you, Homeland Security could put me in a box for that if your guy isn't who he says he is because I'm not the one who supposedly looked at his ID. And the four new hires which could not be faxed in because of a cut phoneline at the jobsite were supposed to be sent in on a truck and had not arrived when I left, bleeding from the eyes, and ears at 4 PM.
I log onto LJ and discover I am not alone - a number of my friends are also having bad days for various reasons.
