You can post all the memes you like, my friends. I am not falling for that today. I don't care what kind of warrior I am or what city I'm supposed to be like. So there.
The martyred tire has been replaced. (That's Bruce's Tire, Hegenberger Road of I-880 in Oakland, folks. They take such good care of me.)
I took about half of Tatsuya-dono's Japanese treats in to work today. People actually ate some of the mochi. So I had a piece when I got home from work. It's the best mochi I've ever had and it's several days old and well traveled by now! (The pink one with the white bean filling was amazing.) So I had to try two more. Then I felt guilty and ate tuna salad and crackers for dinner.
I cannot thank this charming young man enough, even if I end up eating dorayaki for breakfast some time this week. I have some idea just how much money he must have blown on all this food, not to mention the box and wrapping cloth he packed it in. Once again, the Nihonjin of the Known World prove just how much they rock. (We do one of these parties at Estrella, I'm going to let HIM handle dessert.)
Work was nuts today. My file drawer is bursting with new hires. This must be the last mad construction sprint before winter, because it just does not stop. I just wish they wouldn't lob them at me at the same time I'm trying to process payroll.
NOVA had an excellent segment on samurai swords this evening. The science behind the centuries old craft is as fascinating as the craft itself. Well worth a look if you find it on your local PBS affiliate.
