Shopping karma
Nov. 16th, 2007 07:50 pmDespite the obsessing by one of my friends over a particular book of late, I have not stormed the Barnes and Noble at Jack London Square looking for a copy, because I know that if I went to the JLS store looking specifically for the latest bestseller, they would be out of it. (And I don't feel like battling traffic to go to the one in Emeryville.) It's in print. Amazon.com has it. If I really want it, I will order a copy when I've got the cash.
But ohhhhhhh......
On eBay a book
Taunts me with its sweet secrets,
Dangling beyond reach.
Woe! I cannot justify
Such extravagance right now.
The good news is that it's a "buy it now" title and the seller has nineteen in stock. The bad news is it's in Japanese (which I cannot read!) and with shipping and (mandatory) insurance, we're taking $60 that I Just Do Not Have right now.
Can I hold out until my birthday in three weeks? Promise me y'all won't buy all 18 copies out from under me or I shall haunt you after my tragic death in a most gruesome and Japanese manner.
