Super Tuesday
Feb. 5th, 2008 05:23 pmTuesday is payroll day. Which, of course, means that there will be more "emergencies," useless interruptions, unmitigated noise from the hallway and wrong numbers dialed to my desk phone. I even got one on my cell phone for a guy who has not worked for the company for two years. So from 7 to 4 it wasn't really terribly super, just the usual cat rodeo.
Traffic was moving when I hit the freeway, so I easily made it to my polling place before 4:30. There were a couple of people coming down the steps on my way in, and only one person in front of me checking in, so the volunteers processed me and got me a ballot toute suite. Unfortunately the lobby of the former high school where they do this has lighting that dates back to the 1930s and not a single one of the privacy screens was set directly beneath a light fixture. I swear, I'm bringing a flashlight in November.
I came home and discovered that my "I Voted" sticker had migrated from my coat into my hair.
The Costume Con Future Fashion Folio was in my mailbox. Interesting, some of it, but honestly, I have a problem justifying "wear-it-once" projects on my budget. Took a look at the masquerade entry forms on line. I've never DONE one of these things, so I'm not really sure how to approach it. There's like staging and lighting and sound and stuff! EEK. (Yes, I am making pathetic puppy dog eyes at YOU. You know who you are.)
And PEERS is doing a Regency ball on March 1. Am I insane enough to whip out a new gown (by hand, of course) in barely two weeks or should I just go with the old one? I have this decadently gorgeous white and gold kimono silk that I do NOT have enough of to make anything Japanese out of, but might reasonably get a Regency out of......
Wait! Why am I thinking about this! I should be getting ready for Estrella! While I'm at it, should I chain myself to the Artisan's display for three hours of my Sunday and model the Tosenin kosode? I'm not certain I have the patience.....
