[personal profile] florentinescotasked in another entry what I thought of the costumes for the 1980's miniseries Shogun. Quite honestly, I have not seen it since its original air date, and at that time I didn't really know anything about Japan, its history or historical clothing.

In Episode 3 "Don't Tread On Me," effete French aristocrats sing "The Liberty Song" while Dr. Franklin collects donations for the cause. Profoundly cheesilicious midi file and lyrics to The Liberty Song, a  contrefait of "Heart of Oak."  Nice martial brass band version of the melody here.

The chamber consort on the French ship plays part of Mozart's Violin Concerto 3 in G Major, K 216 (also featured in the film Master and Commander).
