Mar. 28th, 2008 06:29 amIn 1936, a Jew from Frankfurt am Main saw the handwriting on the wall. He tried to convince the rest of the family that it was time to get out of Germany before things got any worse. Some came. Some did not. My grandparents and my father, aged 3 at the time, arrived in New York with what they could carry and started from scratch. Like the family members we never talked about because it made my grandmother weep, I would not be here if he had not.
My grandfather died before I was born, but my grandmother was SO proud to be an American citizen, so proud of the successes of her son, so proud of us grandchildren.
On her behalf and mine, I am ashamed to be an American right now. I am appalled at what our country is doing in the name of "freedom."
This is a lot more important that blogging about zombies.

How to write to your Congressman. How to write to your Senator.
I want my America back. Don't you?
