Whan that Aprille With His Shoures Soote
Apr. 2nd, 2008 05:21 pmPayroll was NUTS this week. Don't get me wrong, I'm GLAD business is so good we're hiring hands left and right, but I'm outnumbered. I was inputting the last batch AFTER lunch.
A fabulously happy anniversary to
bovil and
kproche.
At the instigation ofdirty coffee whore
sasha_khan, I picked up a package of Trader Joe's Cookies With Perks (Espresso with dark chocolate chunks). When you peel the plastic seal off the edge of the tub, be prepared to feel like someone has rammed an entire Designer Coffeeshop franchise up your nose. Knowing how strongly scent and taste are related, I decided to try one while holding my nose: crisp chocolate chip cookie with coffee overtones. The coffee impression is much stronger when those Colombian drug lords are shoving you face down into a 50 pound sack of roasted beans. your nose is allowed to play too.
(OK, you have to understand that I don't drink coffee often. It may be all in my head, but the caffeine in coffee seems to hit me a lot harder than the caffeine in tea or soda. We're talking vibrating-through-solid-matter as opposed to reasonably alert. I tend to drink coffee on long road trips, or occasionally when I'm eating out.)
The ingredient list does actually include "dark roast expresso". They're good, but I still prefer TJ's Triple Ginger Gingersnaps.
Alameda Towne Center's craptastic Waldenbooks - the one I can never FIND anything I want in - is closing. A brand new Borders is going in next to the Safeway. Parking in this half vacant, under development, shopping center is a disaster NOW, I shudder to think what it's going to be like when more stores open.
