Went out this morning and ran some errands - then collapsed on the sofa with a headache and napped through most of the afternoon.

However, at last count, I had over 50 slides in the CC26 presentation and lots of good correlations between period artwork and outfits/armor from my Samurai Eye models.... I even tossed a teensy bit of armor porn in there, just cause.

If it's April, someone must be complaining about Asian personae in the SCA. Yes, one of our dewy eyed newcomers ran up against a Naysayer in an unnamed forum and brought the subject up on the sca-jml Yahoogroup this weekend. Why yes, it was right around this time last year that a certain unnamed person in my kingdom decided to have his say over and over and over again on my kingdom e-list, prompting me to  write this.  Now someone wants to reprint it in her local  group's newsletter.  I gave permission subject to the stipulation that she also receive permission from the Samurai From The Outlands, who I quoted in all his eloquent glory. Ei. Wa. Chi. (Honor, harmony, knowledge, for you namban.) Preach it, my brother.

Tune and lyrics to "Hail Columbia," our first National Anthem, which was featured in this week's episode. (The "Star Spangled Banner" lyrics would not be written until 1814.)

I have remembered where I'd heard the Schubert piano trio (nice snippet of it here). It was used in Stanley Kubrick's "Barry Lyndon," and in the 80's vampire movie, "The Hunger." (See my previous post for why this is technically "not period" for the miniseries.)

If you're at all interested in early American music, there are some nice recordings by the Hildebrands available from http://www.colonialmusic.org/index.htm
I have their "Over The Hills And Far Away" and "Music For The President." (What can I tell ya - I have family in Annapolis....)

This is a reminder for [profile] takadai_no_tora, who was wishing for an Alan Rickman film in which he's not playing a villain. Truly, Madly, Deeply.
