I saw it in a dream!
Oct. 28th, 2008 06:34 amI do understand being inspired by a dream, I really, really do. I once had a dream and made this as a result.
I'd already been looking at Japanese art from the period - I looked at a lot more of it before I began making sketches. I practiced writing those three kanji for weeks. (For the record, acrylic paint is not ink and it sucks for calligraphy!) There were no fewer than three "draft" paintings before I was ready to do the final one.
In other words, I did my homework.
