Good thing #1 - flight to Baltimore for a visit with my family and my cousin's wedding in January has been booked on Southwest for $250 roundtrip. Why Maureen chose January, I will have to ask. On the other hand, a trip during the January doldrums is a nice time to travel, even if you run the risk of weather issues. It'll be great to see folks.

Good thing #2 - The birthday check from my dad arrived yesterday.

Good thing #3 - Josh and Ellen are coming to see me next week after all, travel, drivers licences and rental vehicle all having been arranged. It will be great to see them and I'm not just saying that because they flew in from Tokyo and there may be interesting swag in their luggage!

Good thing#4 - After months of dicking around due to the completely illogical reporting structure of the department in which I work, my company finally approved a new computer for me and it was installed this afternoon. So far, things appear to work, I have set a few defaults and re-installed some things I need to do my job. I am dizzied by the speed compared to the relic that sat beneath my desk for two solid years.

Photo album meme: Go to the sixth page of your online photo album (Photobucket, Flickr, whatever you have) and post the first photo on that page.  This made me very happy - and totally counteracts that Twelve Days of Christmas curse of a bushi in a cotehardie! Mitsuhide-dono and Yagu-dono at Estrella last February.

EDIT: Good thing #6.2: James snuck in to read my journal and asked who Cillian Murphy is. I have supplied appropriate film stills and asked him to submit them to his fiance Sylvia for judgement. (If you'd just GET an LJ account, Buckwheat, you could read the "friends only" stuff too. You could be angry_bearded_guy. Or maybe bushi_from_hokkaido. )
