It has been too long since those
Familiar brush strokes were seen.

drinking black ink with much greed...
Friends deserve so much...
Easy communication...
ephemeral, yet desired...
Now that the long missing, much despaired of Bushi From Mutsu has reliable internet service again, who knows where this may lead?

I could be a cashier's worst nightmare. Christmas netted me a $50 American Express Gift Card and FIVE $25 Visa Gift Cards. (The latter was a work thank-you-for-cleaning-up-the-payroll-fiasco, made up out of leftover Thanksgiving gift cards, which is why I got a fistful instead of just one at a higher denomination). After discovering that Amazon.com has no facility for redeeming anyone's gift cards but THEIRS, the bastards, I used the AmEx one at Best Buy to pick up both of the HBO Rome boxed sets, at 50% off.

Very nice, mellow party at Spring and Dave's. I made chicken for the pot-luck - just hunks of breast meat marinated in Annie's Naturals sesame orange marinade - sweet without being cloying. I'm glad I did - most folks brought dessert-y things and I'm done with cheesecake for awhile. The Boys brought two monster bottles of sake. The Hakugin was a marvelous junmai ginjo sake that reached out of the glass with the deliciousness of its scent and delivered on that promise. Lovely stuff.
bovil 's favorite, the Oni-Karakuchi sake, is as he puts it, "damned dry," (it's a 10+ on the old Nihonshu-do) but in a good way. I stuck with sake all evening because I could, then switched to water.
