1. Slept in to 9 AM.

2. Light coming through the skylight is grey and I can hear water pouring through rain gutters - and I am not out in it.

3. Collected the April tanka challenge poems and webbed them. I missed two days. On the other hand, I generated some poetry, some of which I am quite pleased with.

4. Fired off a follow up email to the people involved in Lost And Permanently Lost at Estrella War:

Good morning. It is May 2. Estrella is a dimming memory and I still have not received my property (photo attached) or notification as to what I need to do to retrieve it.

Believe me, if I could find someone who still sells the beads, I would chalk this one up and make a new circlet. I feel deeply, deeply sorry for anyone who misplaced anything of real value at your event.

Your immediate attention would be appreciated if I could actually believe I would receive such.

Do I need to send copies of my correspondence to SCA Today? I am sorely tempted.

5. "Kosode For Lazy Dumbasses, Now with MORE MATH!"
is live. I decided not to do any re-drawings - they were good enough before, they're good enough now. I did add pics of me doing things with a tape-measure, photos of how to put on false collars, and I rearranged the order of some of the content.

I'm probably not going to have time to do the "putting it on" shoot until much later anyway, so there's no point in extending the hiatus. I'll just add in the link when it exists.

Now then, a certain professional photographer and calligrapher of my acquaintance is doing an open-studio thingy this weekend. I wonder, shall I go check it out for a bit???

1. Found my package from fabrics-store.com of royal blue linen in the mail today. Yummy color, just came out of the dryer all soft and snuggly. I'll cut out a jacket and lining tomorrow. If I get my arse in gear, I could conceivably have it ready for the muster in Livermore on Sunday 5/17. I think I can take a sewing needle on a plane now, can't I?

2. Tooled on over to Palo Alto this afternoon and hung out with [livejournal.com profile] didjiman , [personal profile] karisu_sama  and [livejournal.com profile] jadecat9 for the open studio. The rain had stopped, but it was grey and cool all afternoon, so they didn't have many customers. I did my bit to patronize the arts, and after a great deal of dithering over which to get, acquired one of Richard's prints. (I'm also thinkin' I should get some decent photo paper and print and mount something I've shot and send it to my Mom for Mother's Day.) I had dinner with [livejournal.com profile] didjiman , [personal profile] karisu_sama  and their eldest at a little Korean joint called Totoro. Yummy pickles and kimchee and what's left of my seafood "pancake" (veggies, squid, and baby shrimp suspended in an omelette-like matrix) can be tomorrow's breakfast.

3. Hiraizumi-Sensei's response to the kosode page revision:

"Looks *real* good. There had better not be any people who don't get it *now*.

You should expect, however, to still get a buncha Qs from people who just skim it because --like my armour manual -- it's got so much information the average reader's eyes may glaze over. It's an annoying thing, but I see it happen *all* the friggin' time. I hate calling people idiots (or blind, or blind idiots), but we are in an informational paradox: we give them not enough info, they ask for answers. We give them *all* the information, they can't take it all in."

Amen, my brother. I had this happen before the revision. Let the cries of "There's too much math!" begin.
