And lo, it was loud and there was much flailing.

This should not be a surprise, given that the midwinter session of taiko was cancelled so that work could be done in the old O Club where we have class and we hadn't played together since November.  We had seven in the intermediate/advanced class tonight, all returnees from the past session. Josh was the first casualty, slamming his knuckles into the side of a drum during warm ups. I, of course, had already sliced my palm open on a set of plan drawings earlier in the day, so I simply had to deal with the Band-aid trying to work itself off the paper cut on my hand in the middle of class. (Finally I just yanked it off.)  Sean-sensei put a bunch of drums up on o-daiko stands and we spent most of the class working on some form drills. I'm feeling it in my knees and quads, but I won't be surprised if I can't raise my arms above shoulder height tomorrow. Which is not to say I haven't missed this, because I have.

RSVP'd to the Free Artillerie Company about attending the event up at Brushy Creek in two weeks. Primitive site, gonna be happy to be in wool. Thinking of making bannocks from scratch on a griddle that weekend. Bannocks are a sort of oatmeal pancake. They make a decent delivery system for butter and honey when warm and can be thrown at the enemy when stone cold.

I got a wild hair up my nethers and decided to offer to teach a class on persona at Southern Shores' Newcomers Tourney (4/17/10). The lady who'd put out the call for teachers wrote back "YES" so many times I think I need a cigarette and a shower. I was going to do it last year, only Master Cariadoc beat me to the punch. Then I offered it at A&S and nobody came. It really is better suited to a newcomer-friendly event, particularly in a kingdom in which only a handful of people go beyond picking a name.

Dad called. Wouldn't you know it? I book a trip home and he's flying out here on his spring break! He will be out here for a little while after I get back. He thinks. He has to go look at his calendar again. And he'll forget - 'cause he's Dad and he forgets.
