Today's mission: Brian's shell jacket
Mar. 6th, 2010 10:53 amOatmeal has been eaten.
Pattern pieces have been traced onto paper using a Boys' size 8 long sleeved tee shirt for scale. Pattern pieces have been cut except for collar and epaulets, Both of these are basically rectangles and I will have a better idea of what size to make them once the body is assembled.

Fabric has been laundered, pressed and cut.
12:25 PM:
Body panels of jacket have been stitched together (yes, by hand), which is why it's time to take a break. My fingers are tired from pushing a needle through trouser weight twill.
(Is that the SUN????)
I'd like to make a good dent in this project today. The Antiques By The Bay market is tomorrow and I haven't been in months. I also want to do another Kurosawa matinee tomorrow afternoon: Stray Dog and Drunken Angel (the first thing Mifune and Kurosawa did together). I can also work on it during the Brushy Creek event next week: hand sewing and socializing with camp mates always goes together.
2:25: Black piping has been sewn to the edges of the epaulets and a button attached to each. I think that's enough for today.
