Tanka challenge 4/5/10
Apr. 5th, 2010 08:00 pmI set a challenge
To test myself and perhaps
Create some beauty.
What I do is what I do.
What you do is what you do.
I am not here to absolve you if you don't have time to take up the challenge this time around.
I am not here to give you permission to double dip because real life is getting in the way.
I am not here to pass judgment on the choice you make to take the challenge in a direction not specified by the initial intent of said challenge.
I am not here to give you a gold star. I am not here to take points from Griffendor.
I am here to write.
To get better at it.
To demand of myself that I come up with thirty one syllables even when I don't feel like it.
If I fail, I fail. I will not salve my conscience by writing two poems to make up for a day I skipped. I will own skipping that day.
If I write crap, I write crap. Writing crappy tanka is period - and inevitable. They can't all be gems.
I will not make excuses about my output or lack thereof.
Like the little green Master says, "Do or do not. There is no try."
Write. Or don't write.
To test myself and perhaps
Create some beauty.
