Hump day musings

1. You may recall that two of my Rising Sun camp mates were trying to convince me to attend this event over Memorial Day weekend. In New Mexico.

I haven't heard another word since I said goodbye to them in Arizona in February. Last week I emailed them using the contact info at the event website indicating I hadn't heard from them and should I bother researching airfares.

Six days later and there has been no response.

This afternoon I returned from lunch to discover an email from the Great Hero Of China indicating that he and  purplepenguin and their ladies were thinking of coming out to the Bay Area over Memorial Day and would I be around to hang out with?

I hereby declare Grand Outlandish to be SOL. It sounds like a great premise for an event, it would be fun, it might even be worth scraping together the airfare somehow and trying to camp out of a carry-on bag, but I can't wait for them to not get back to me.

2. To anyone reading this who is attending Mists Coronet, I will be serving sake and snacks on Saturday afternoon and evening. I have some very nice sake that I could not bear to pour out after Estrella. It has managed to survive quite well in the back of my refrigerator, but it really, REALLY needs to be drunk before that is no longer the case. The Kurosawa kimoto (I'll bring an extra serving bottle so we can try it warmed as well as chilled) and the Shinto temple sake the Far Westerners brought me are on offer. I can certainly pick up a bottle of the Hana Awaka (translates as Flower Bubbles Of Squeeing Girliness) for the folks I know like that.
