Met [livejournal.com profile] shalmestere  and [livejournal.com profile] hudebnik  in Berkeley for dinner. Given the itinerary and timing of the early music concerts they were attending, I picked them up at the Berkeley City Club (awesome old Julia Morgan pseudo-Moorish castle), crammed them into 'Tite Blanche's front seat and took them over to La Mediterranee which is only a few blocks from the church where this evening's concert was. Food was as yummy as I remember it and we had enough time to enjoy a meal and chat before they headed off for the evening.

My hands are killing me from screwing corner plates onto the drum stands I built for the two small taiko that Andy and Kelly picked up for me. The thing is, when you don't have a proper work bench you can clamp things to, some things don't work out the way you want them to. I finally just bought a buttload of brass corner plates, drilled pilot holes and screwed all the joints together - and of course, the stupid power screwdriver has no torque, even with a full charge. So I did them by hand. 4 screws per plate. Eight plates per stand. Four screws per hinge, two hinges per stand. Holy crap, is that really 80 screws?

A&S To do list is looking good. Class notes are printed. I need to do a grocery run after work tomorrow for edamame, fresh fruit (I saw hami melon at Nob Hill last weekend!), water, ice, and incidentals. There's a 99 Ranch Market off 880 not that far from site, so I'll detour their on the way to the event for pickles. I'll make up some onigiri tomorrow night and throw it in zip-locks. May or may not toast some on the grill at the event.
