Tuesday night follies
Jul. 20th, 2010 09:07 pmDidn't sleep well last night. Not sure whether it's "change" related or not, though I did wake up shivering at one point because I had managed to kick off all the covers and night time temperatures in Alameda got down in the 50's last night.
Taiko was lightly attended tonight, just me, Josh and Tracy along with our two sensei, so we worked on an old piece that's reminiscent of a freight train rolling down a mountain. I formed and burst a blister in short order. Since we weren't going to be doing "taiko-robics," I ended up pulling the ace bandage off my ankle and wrapping my hand with it so I could keep playing. Came home, cleaned it and applied a bandaid, which hopefully will stay put even though it's in an awkward spot.
Got a nice note from Badass Of The Week guy saying he'd fix the entry. He hasn't yet.
Uncovering Heian Japan continues to be a slog through obfuscatory vocabulary chosen to impress other academics and intimidate undergraduates. It's a good thing I've been proofreading my father's work since high school or I'd've given up on it five pages into the first chapter. Dr. LaMarre has some interesting ideas about his subject, but it's slow going. (That's two non-fiction works in a row. I should probably slot in a novel for my next read....)
Starting to get a little excited about this weekend's road trip to LA and rendezvous with James. Speaking of which, do any of my So-Cal peeps (you know who you are) who are reasonably close to the greater LA area want to attempt to get together for dinner Friday?
