Something is wrong on the Internet!
Aug. 17th, 2010 03:39 pmI was wrong. A Certain Sporting Good Chain isn't the Devil, my kingdom's mailing list is the Devil.
It brings out all my worst impulses.
I am not going to explain to the willfully obtuse that recommending a book does not constitute endorsement of the use of firearms in the SCA. Nor am I going to offer to lend out said book to the one person who expressed interest because every time I loan something out I never see it again.
I will not dignify the "Shogun" post with comment. I wasn't even in the SCA in 1980 and it's not what inspired me to do The Japanese Thing.
I will not be the sixth person to have to explain to someone that the 16th century is not the 1700's.

In the best impulses column, I rode Mimi to taiko today. I'm not imagining it, there is a definite elevation change going towards the West End that's imperceptible when riding in a car, but noticeable when pedaling out Atlantic Avenue in particular. It's also compounded somewhat by a prevailing head-wind.
Reactions from my classmates ranged from encouraging to solicitous. No, I was not too tired to play: I gave myself enough time to get to class, get some water, use the rest room, help set up drums, etc. Played hard for the hour (things are starting to gel, so hopefully the recital at the end of the month will go well). Stopped at the water fountain, pedaled my bike across to the parking lot and took a few minutes to chat with Josh and Clint (and cool down slightly), then turned on my head and tail lights and pedaled home.
