Wednesday night follies
Jan. 19th, 2011 06:23 pmTaiko felt pretty good from the back row last night. Sean-sensei and Shannon-sensei seemed to be in a "What HAVE we volunteered ourselves into" mood over the impending performances at the Japanese language school. I did remind them that a bad pre-show practice usually means a good show. (Yes, I am the kid who used to pray her horse would dump her during the Thursday night jump class on the theory that show day would be far more successful with the disasters out of the way.) Sorry I'm gonna miss it, though not sorry for the reason. On the other hand, I've had "Shinkyoku" stuck in my head all damn day.
Tickets to see Kodo at Cal arrived in the mail. I still think an $8 processing fee to put two pre-printed tickets in an envelope and get it in the mail is a rip off. I did all the work scrolling through their website to pick seats and fill out my purchase info.
Back up to two miles on foot a day, five days a week. Knee feels ok. I'm still wearing the brace at taiko, but more to remind myself to be careful than anything.
Slept badly last night. I think I'm stressing about Investiture (including the bit involving trying to pull off a speech in a foreign language) , Estrella prep and the fact that someone flagged me at a stoplight and told me my brake light was out. (This after the thing with the fuse blowing out bulbs on both taillights about a year ago.)
Stopped at Bruce's on my way home this evening. They couldn't find anything wrong with my taillights. Tony even sat in the cab and turned things on and off so I could look at my tail lights. Everything seems to be fine.
Just did some touch up work on the Sooper Sekrit Project. I will wait until tomorrow to heat set the paint work and sew in the linings - after all this nonsense, I'd hate to have the paint smear because it wasn't thoroughly dry.
Got an email from someone about a Samurai Eye submission. I could swear I'd emailed her back when she sent it to me a few weeks ago and told her not to embed her photos in the text of the email because I couldn't open them to review them properly. Maybe I didn't, because I can't find my response to her in my outbox. I shot her an apology, told her to resend the pictures in a form I can view decently and warned her I might not actually get to do THAT until after Estrella - and why.
Need to complain to Comcast about repeated problems with my service. Certain channels (premium ones, of course! and one PBS station I like to catch), keep blacking out with a "This channel will be available momentarily" message - only they never come back on. What am I paying you people for?
