Wednesday stuff
May. 4th, 2011 05:28 pmHot. Sweaty. Temps are in the low 80s and our prevailing NW wind is blowing hot and dry, so my bike ride home from BART made me down a huge mug of water when I came in the house. Waiting to get a load of laundry into the dryer, then I will deal with the horror that is my skunk stripe* and shower when it's time to rinse the dye out.
(*Someone got a photo of me this weekend and all I can see is this big silver gash down my part line!)
So that makes three days in a row bike-commuting. I still feel like I'm working harder on the homeward leg, but the microclimate for this part of the Bay Area includes breezes off the bay, which tend to come out of the direction I'm riding into, so I'm sorta stuck with it. At least I can pop my helmet and cool down a little on BART.
Perpetrated a little dark-clouds-of-war-on-the-horizon for the kingdom e-lists, mostly on the grounds that I, as a resident of the Mists who is "on loan" to the royalty of Cynagua, am caught in the middle.
Saionji no Hana abases herself and sends most humble greetings to The Exalted Hisahito-tenno, eighty-ninth Emperor of Nihon.
As The Son of the Sun commanded, this person continues sojourn in this place called The West and hereby reports her most recent observations of the lands and people.
The land has experienced an unusually wet winter. The high passes of the mountains are still laden with snow, the rivers are in heavy flow and the sakura have flowered and dropped their pale petals early.
This person humbly remains in attendance upon the daimyo of Sinagawa and his lady. During the summer festival of Beruteinu, however, I was privy to some events which concern me greatly. While waiting upon the court, I accidentally glimpsed some messages which were passed between the Fog
Prince and Takeshi-dono. At first, I thought perhaps they were simply sharing episodes from a picture scroll of great battles. However, the note exchange continued furtively during the great doings of the Western King's court and I could not but be fearful that these messages presage war.
Saionji no Hana waits upon the wishes of The Most Exalted One and offers prayers for his continued health and longevity.
I have also had it with the whiners on a list I've been moderating since before everyone got smart-phones, so I opened the floor to discussion of whether we should change the list rules and I'm letting every single message from people who have been on moderated status for the past ten years go through in all their hideousness. Let their eyeballs bleed from untrimmed responses for a bit. We'll see.
