State of the House of Cheerful Monkeys
Jan. 21st, 2012 10:28 amWork continues to be crazybusy. (Seriously, if you are a sheet metal worker, pipe-fitter or plumber, we need boots onsite at a bunch of projects in the Bay Area right now.) The kind of busy where I haven't gone out for a walk on break since before Christmas because I don't realize what time it is. I need to do something about that as I am not happy about the fit of my jeans this morning.
Took Blanche for a smog check this AM. I can recommend 4 Less Smog Check on Broadway's Auto Row in Oakland. I was there about 10 minutes after the doors opened, the young man who served me was polite and pleasant, and whisked me in and out in minutes for $39.99. Just waiting for the results to hit the DMV so I can renew my registration online. Shouldn't've left it so late, but there was this SCA thing that sorta got in the way.
Speaking of which, I've dutifully joined up on several Laurel-y e-lists (for whatever that's worth), though the kingdom one reported an elevation being done at an upcoming event in our Alaskan principality and I was able to meet the Queen at Starbucks after taiko on Tuesday to hand over the kingdom Laurel cloak for the ceremony.
Staffan and I have been talking about doing a Kurosawa movie marathon for ages and I finally pinned him down electronically about a week or so ago and said, "Let's do this thing. I have a stack of DVDs. We can even back-to-back The Magnificent Seven and Shichinin no Samurai." Besides, he made me come home with all that shochu! We picked this weekend and I invited Urtatim and Geoffroi as well. There will be a dinner break for sushi. I haven't had sushi in weeks.
And on that note, I need to go straighten out the futon cover and neaten up the living room.
