We got hail last night.

Several times.

Skylight, remember? It was like trying to sleep inside a popcorn popper.

I know *just* what you mean. My house is on an unstable foundation and the house used to "pop" and creak quite a lot as it shifted slightly with the changes in soil moisture.

I love a house with "character" {wry grin}

We have gotten our first cold spell here, too!

We had a bit of snow about a week ago, but it all went away (as is prone to do in Denver). It was in the 60's on Friday & Saturday, and then late Saturday night it started snowing. The temprature was around 1-4 Deg F during the day on Sunday, and this morning it was at -9 F at 6:30 am, and only rose to -2 F by 9:30 am.....

Yes, Virginia, that feels pretty cold.

We get that too. The occasional old-house-noise is normal to me, having grown up in some old houses. However, my bedroom is directly under the roof and features a skylight. I frequently wake up when it begins raining, then doze off. Hail, though, is even noisier.
