What's all the fuss?

gurdymonkeyOK, so I finally have a moment to log on and people are freaking out about layoffs at LJ and where to back up their precious journals.
The second round seems to indicate that freakage may have been premature. OK, fine, fair enough.
Pictures, project notes, and poetry - you know, all the important stuff - are in files on my computer at home. Everything else is just nattering about mostly nonsense and trivia and if it went poof into the ether tomorrow, I'd mind because I do enjoy this service, but it would not be the end of the world.
Not going to taiko class tonight. Now THAT would be a tragedy.
