I wouldn't have minded staying for the dancing, but even if my friends hadn't had to be elsewhere or hit critical mass, my work schedule is such that a Sunday night wasn't optimum. I believe Oakland's temple is doing their Obon the first Saturday of August and they don't start things until 3 so it's not as long a day.
