I *must* find out if there are historical costumers in SF Japantown. I haven't seen any at the festivals, just tons of anime types.
Those are fabu kataginu! (Although I have to admit Andy's fabric has inspired me to think evil thoughts about a Scottish tartan kataginu, which is Wrong and Bad but... hmm.)
A few years ago we went to a con down that way, which we found to be a sort of 'eh' con (SiliCon? I forget), and regretted having missed a festival in SF for it - only to realize there was one in SJ also! But woe, it had been on Saturday, and the Sunday after had everything closed and tired. Except for the fabulous Kumako Ramen folks, who not only fed us some of the tastiest ramen I've ever had, but were super nice about the fact that my wheelchair plus luggage practically took up the whole restaurant.
