Tanka challenge 4/18/12

While I sat reading,
Birdsong ceased and the skylight
Went dark above me.
High time to leave the world
Inside that book for this one.

For some reason this brings to mind Jo March with her apples and books in the garret. I love visiting another world through a book and I love it when it takes me out of awareness of this present world and moment - something I cannot achieve right now, but hopefully again someday.

Well, I do refer to this room as the garret, but I was reading via a laptop (which is why I could do so without noticing the change of the light overhead right away) and no apples were harmed, but I think Louisa May Alcott would not mind.
