The reason that the Victorian stuff looks as good as it does is that PEERS and some of the other local social dance groups such as the Gaskell Occasional Dance Society have ties with the actors and dancers who work the Dickens Fair at Christmas in San Francisco. (Being as I hate, loathe and despise Victorian fashion for many of the same reasons I hate, loathe and despise Elizabethan fashion, I have not been inspired to get gussied up in the stuff and do that. Regency is about as late as I can stand because it actually looks OK on me. Though I have to admit that the brown silk bustle dress last night actually scores well on the Not Awful Meter.)
Damn, this photo sucks. I know for a fact there were four people snapping these poses so I hope more angles get posted. You can't see how cute Carey looks in my kimono (middle row, glasses). I KNEW the plaid hanhaba obi would look darling with that kimono.
It'll probably be my luck that the P&P conflicts with some damn SCA thing or another. They did a picnic event the week I was at Pennsic.
