I live one block from a Marine Corps /Naval Reserve station here on Alameda. They are very good neighbors.

Not these days. The Naval Air Station at the north end of town was de-commissioned in the '90s. They do have the USS Hornet museum. Some of the land is being developed for housing, some of the old NAS buildings are being used as commercial and warehouse space, and, of course, the Mythbusters like to come out and blow stuff up on the old airstrip, which is used one Sunday a month for a huge antiques market.
