I have bags of recycling teetering in the kitchen because the waste removal guys BROKE the recycling bin when they tried to empty it into the truck last Wednesday and instead of removing said bin and its contents and bringing us a replacement, the full bin is still sitting out on the kerb where they left it - with a great big crack running horizontally across the back.  I have ironing I want to do in preparation for Costume Con. Ironing that involves very long garments that do NOT need to be tangled in bags of Lean Cuisine boxes and pickle jars.

I think I got about a minute and a half's worth of sleep last night despite shimming the bathroom window three times to make it stop rattling in the wind.

The uwagi fix is better than it was but still not optimum - and I'm still not bloody well DONE with it.

I have a headache that Advil just plain will not put a dent in.

Grrrrr....

Don't you hate it when things that should be simple and 'good' are so freakin' difficult?

With the new house, we came up with a plan for recycling here - save the papers and plastics and whatever we can recycle, compost the food products, and try to limit the 'trash'.

This plan would work great - if we were 'in the city': but since we're in the unincorporated part of SA, we don't get curbside recycling. So we have to load up our car with the recyclables and take them to the center. This is not the easiest task in the world with 2 kids, so we don't do it all the time.

But every time I see the pile of recyclables taking up space in the garage - it pisses me off that I can't have that space, all because the county doesn't do curbside pickup. And it makes it that much easier to throw something that probably can be recycled (plastic straws and the lids to milk cartons) in the trash instead of the overflowing box of plastics.

That reminds me - time to bug Red about dropping off a load of stuff again.

Our complex has a couple hundred units. Recycling consists of ONE dumpster of cardboard only at the far end of the complex (roughly 4 blocks.) I'd love to recycle properly, but the best I can manage is to haul cans and bottles to the center every few months. We get cash for them but I'd much rather dump them at the curb and be done with it.

In San Jose curbside pickup was so good it included *textiles* ferchrissake.
