I think I just remembered why Loie Fuller's name was so familiar; isn't she the woman who was popular in Europe/France as a performer? I think I remember reading about her in Madame Sadayakko, from when Sadayakko went to France with their performing troupe. (Just double-checked with a quick google search; she is the one I was thinking of.)

I wouldn't have the slightest idea on how to put that outfit together - there's just so much fabric...but the movement is so graceful and beautiful! She did a wonderful job and it was a very nice performance. Did she say why she chose the costume and tribute? I'm just curious if it has personal meaning for her.

You have to understand that I was in a heap on a chair or queued up to go onstage and she was in a different part of the queue than I was, so I didn't know what she was going to do. I didn't even see her performance until I got the DVD home.

as someone sitting in the audience, I can tell you that the videos don't do the actual presentations justice. They were both much better than they show here. (Which tells you how great they were, because they still look cool in the videos)
